The Crowned Heart is a collaboration between sisters Maureen Lillie and Wendy Diggles who share a passion for historical dress, costuming and living history
Maureen is a professional historian with a strong interest in historical clothing and the manner in which it was worn; she has a repertoire of couture, pattern making and sewing skills. Wendy is a qualified milliner with 30 years’ experience in jewellery and headpiece design and manufacture, her work has appeared in Belvoir St theatre productions, film and TV from Hamlet to Farscape.
We specialize in Men’s and women’s accessories, head-wear and jewellery which reflect the Middle Ages and Renaissance, working from original sources. Machine seams are hidden and any visible sewing is by hand.
Do you want to put together a new outfit for re-enactment or a special occasion or put the finishing touches to one you have? From hand blocked hats to ornate plate belts and such elegant trifles as folly bells. We can help you achieve the look you desire to reflect the era, class and occupation. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
The Crowned Heart are also happy to work with re-enactment and living history groups and associations to advise and assist in styling and accessory selection. We work from the “Belle Folie” design studio in Ascot which has a large work room, a dressing room, kitchen and bathroom facilities and ample parking. We can help facilitate your experts to do workshops there or arrange information nights at our location or yours. All inquiries are welcome.
